Virginia E. Smith, 94, Hofa Park, died peacefully Wednesday morning, October 13, 2021, at her home. The daughter of the late John and Lottie (Wasielewski) Lukasik was born September 25, 1927, in Mellen and moved to the Pulaski area as a young girl. On June 5, 1948, she married Richard M. Smith at Assumption B.V.M. Church in Pulaski. The couple farmed most of their married life in Hofa Park. Virginia was a member of St. Stanislaus Parish in Hofa Park. She enjoyed playing cards, gardening, spending time at her son’s cottage, vacationing with family, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law: Thomas and Patti Smith, Wayne and Jamie Smith, all of Pulaski, and Allan Smith, Seymour; 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren: her oldest grandson who she raised, Doug (Kelly) Allen and his children, Kristin (Kyle) Baranczyk and children Ella and Elijah, and Kyle Allen and his child Hunter; Jamie (Erin) Allen and their children Nicholas and Aubrey; Melissa Allen, and her son Brett; Aaron Allen and his daughter Hayleigh; Sherri (Travis) Altman and their children Tristan and Kiera, Jackie (Shayne) Smith, and their children Cambrie, Cayden, and Alanis; Angela (Paul) Baker and their sons Sawyer and Oliver; Glen (Cheri) Belongia Jr. and his sons Nathan and Justin; Blake (Melissa) Belongia and their sons Hunter and Bailey; Miranda (grandchild); Nicole (Jason) Carlson and their children Marek, Keagan, and Kendyl; Kelli (Chris) Taylor and their children Easton and Paisley; Brett (Brittni) Smith. Virginia is further survived by sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law: Cecelia Lukasik, Aurelia Lasecki, and Cyril and Arlene Smith.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Richard M. Smith; and her daughter, Sally Allen; a granddaughter: Staci Belongia; her parents: John and Lottie Lukasik; four brothers: Raymond (Catherine) Lukasik, Leo (Tillie) Lukasik, John (Clara) Lukasik, and Richard Lukasik; three sisters: Eva (Joseph) Steck, Mae (Edward) Rendfliesch, and Dorothy (Teofil) Tyczkowski; her father-in-law and mother-in-law: Frank (Agnes) Smith; a sister-in-law: Bernadine (Edward) Dombrowski; and brothers-in-law: Harvey Lasecki and Norbert (MaryAnn) Smith.
Friends are invited to gather with the family from 9-11 a.m. Wednesday, October 20, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Hofa Park. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, at 11 a.m. with Fr. Carmen Scuderi, O.F.M. presiding. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery.
