Nancy A. Baron, 91, Pulaski, passed away peacefully Friday, April 15, 2022. The daughter of Warren and Mildred (Meade) Foster was born February 11, 1931, in Hurley and was a 1949 graduate of Hurley High School. She then attended college in Superior, Wisconsin. On February 12, 1954, she married her high school sweetheart, Wayland “Mop” Baron, at the Cathedral of Christ the King in Superior.
After working for a few years as a secretary at Sullivan & Foster Law Firm, Nancy and Mop moved to Pulaski in 1959 when Mop took a position with the Pulaski Community School District. The couple raised their family in Pulaski where Nancy “Sapphire” made sure the family had a loving home. When the kids were growing up, she volunteered in the Assumption B.V.M. School Library and for pre-kindergarten screening at the area grade schools, and was a den mother when her sons were in Cub Scouts. One of her greatest joys was spending family summers at Pine Lake in the Hurley and Mercer areas. An avid reader, she always brought a large bag filled with books to enjoy at the lake. Nancy enjoyed her weekly luncheons with Shirley and Mary and also liked to knit and take a trip to the casino every now and again.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Wayland “Mop” Baron; their four children: Monica Winter (special friend, Keith DeVos), Cheryl (Rod) Radecki, David (Michelle) Baron, and Scott (Kaylan) Baron; eight grandchildren: Brett Radecki, Lucas Baron, Alex Watermolen, Samantha (Matt) Wright, Brooke and Bailey Baron, and Cody and Branden Doucette; two great grandchildren: Rowan and Harper; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Mildred Foster; a son-in-law, Dave Winter; two sisters: Peggy Alvey and Pat (Dick) Meyers; a brother, George (Barbara) Foster; her mother-in-law and father-in-law: Agnes and Aloysius Baron; and brothers-in-law: Leon Baron and Donald (Jean) Baron.
Friends are invited to gather with the family at Assumption B.V.M. Church, 119 E. Pulaski St., Pulaski, from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, April 30th. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the church, Fr. James Gannon, O.F.M. presiding and Abbot Dane Radecki, O. Praem concelebrating. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery.
