
William “Bill” Folkman, 80, Krakow, passed away Sunday, April 2, 2023, at his home. He was born July 19, 1942, to Elmer and Elma (Specht) Folkman. On October 15, 1966, he married Florence Zimmer of Hansville, WA. Together they shared over 56 years together.
Bill graduated from Pulaski High School in 1960. He joined the US Marine Corps on July 24, 1961, and served as a security guard at the US Embassy in Bonn, Germany until his honorable discharge on September 29, 1966. Afterward, he farmed in the town of Angelica and also in Snelling, CA. At the time of his retirement, he was doing apartment remodeling in Grand Junction, CO.
Bill enjoyed hunting; he spent many years hunting elk in Colorado. He was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church in Pulaski. He was also a member of the Pulaski American Legion Post 337, and the funeral honors detail. He enjoyed woodworking, even making his urn for his cremated remains.
Bill is survived by his wife, Florence; a daughter, Monica (Mike) Goucher, Enumclaw, WA; son, Brad Folkman, Krakow; grandchildren: Tina Goucher, Noah Goucher, Josh (Alaina) Goucher, Brittini (Jason) VanDreel, and Hunter (Lexi) Folkman; two great-grandchildren: Jaden and Beckett VanDreel. He is further survived by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Janet (LeRoy) Mietzner, Carl (Candi) Zimmer, Chuck (Carol) Zimmer, Dennis (Darlene) Zimmer, all of Hansville, WA, Yvonne (Bob) Smallbeck, Buckley, WA; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, Elmer and Elma, Bill was preceded in death by two brothers: Dewey (Shirley) Folkman and Jim (Kathy) Folkman; three sisters: Elaine (Ruben) Buchholz, Arly (Bob) Buntrock, and Bev (John) Anderson.
Friends are invited to gather with family at St. John Lutheran Church, 910 S St. Augustine St., Pulaski, on Thursday, April 13, from 9-11 a.m. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. with Rev. Larry Yaw officiating. Military honors rendered by the Pulaski Area Veterans will follow at the church. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery, Laney.
