Joanne “Joanie” M. Wicka, 90, Pulaski, passed away Thursday, February 9, 2023, at Meadow Brook Nursing Home, Oconto Falls. The daughter of Ignatz and Pauline (Bautch) Pampuch was born on August 5, 1932, in South Dakota.

Joanie grew up in Independence, WI and graduated from Independence High School. On June 17, 1961, she married Bernard Wicka. In 1972, the couple moved to Pulaski after acquiring Hank and Nat Wiza’s Tavern. Together, Joanie and Bernie owned and operated Wicka’s Tavern until her passing. Joanie enjoyed watching sports, especially the Packers and Brewers. In her younger years she enjoyed bowling and dancing. She loved polka music and playing cards with her customers.

Joanie is survived by her husband, Bernard Wicka; a brother-in-law, Donald (Mary) Wicka; sisters-in-law: Betty (Robert) Fratzke, Loretta (Francis) Pehler, Betty Pampuch, and Alice Wicka.

In addition to her parents, Ignatz and Pauline, she was preceded in death by a brother, LaVern Pampuch; brothers-in-law: Vincent (Delores) Wicka and David Wicka; sisters-in-law: Delores (Marcel) Thomas and Geraldine (Robert) Herrick.

Friends are invited to gather with the family at Assumption B.V.M. Church, 119 E. Pulaski St., on Tuesday, February 14, from 9-11 a.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. with Fr. David Kobak, O.F.M. presiding. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
