
Hertha Pauline Ester Olson, 100, of the Bonduel area, passed away peacefully, February 25, 2023, surrounded by family. The daughter of Frank and Hulda (Simon) Busch was born at home on January 3, 1923.
Hertha was a graduate of Bonduel High School. Following high school, she moved to Milwaukee and worked at Cutler Hammer. She didn’t like the big city and moved back to Zachow to work at Zachow Elevator & Lumber, where she met Roger Olson. On June 18, 1949, the couple married at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bonduel.
Hertha was a farm wife for 21 years and sold Stanley Home Products. She also worked at the Pulaski Canning Co. and later did house cleaning. She was the oldest active member of St. John Lutheran Church in Pulaski, where she was a member of the St. John Ladies Guild. She loved to read, do puzzles and word searches.
Hertha is survived by her three children: Gary (Joyce) Olson, Jane (Kevin) Watermolen, and Nancy Specht (Steve); her grandchildren: Garry Olson, Jason Specht, William Specht, and Shannon Beyersdorf; great-grandchildren: McKenzie and Mitchell Specht, Kyle, Dylan and Madelyn Olson; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to her husband, Roger, and parents, Frank and Hulda, Hertha was preceded in death by her siblings: an infant brother, Frank Jr., Clarence (Lydia), Martin (Violet), Gladys (Alvin), Irene (Wally), Leona, Harold (Inez) and Gerhardt; son-in-law, Jerald Specht; daughter-in-law, Patsy Olson; and Roger’s parents and all of his brothers and sisters.
Friends are invited to gather with family at St. John Lutheran Church, 910 S. St. Augustine St., Pulaski, on Thursday, March 2, from 9-11 a.m. The Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. with Pastor Larry Yaw officiating. Burial will take place in the spring in Elm Grove Cemetery, Laney.
The family would like to thank the Unity Hospice Team for their compassionate care. They would also like to thank her niece, Lori, for her help caring for Hertha.
