Charles David Whitman Sr., 71, Pulaski, passed away Sunday, May 28, 2023, at Azura Memory Care Assisted Living Facility in Manitowoc. The son of Phillip David and Marion Nancy (Storrs) Whitman was born December 23, 1951, in Hartford, CT.

Charles grew up in Connecticut and graduated from Gilbert High School with the class of 1972. He moved to Pulaski in 2012. On March 17, 2012, Charles married Sharon Braley Thompson at New Life Church in Pulaski. Charles was a carpenter most of his working career until he was forced into early retirement due to his dementia.

Charles was a physically fit person:  he was an avid bicyclist, he ran several marathons, and enjoyed going for walks. He loved listening to music and singing. He was very devout in his faith and had a love of God.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Whitman, Pulaski; five children: Charles Whitman Jr., Romance, AR, Kelly Jean (Wayne) Chrisman, Pulaski, Lysabeth Rose Edwards, Pulaski, Myles T. Joseph Whitman, Green Bay, and Chelsey Lynn (James) Muse, Romance, AR; three step-children: Gregory Thompson, Green Bay, Tina Thompson, Green Bay, and Holly (Joshua) Gildemeister, Pulaski; 21 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; his siblings: Jamie (Mark) Whitman, Mystic, CT, Carl Kirstein, Simpsonville, SC, Sharon Hall, Lakewood, CO, Clifford (Susan) Whitman, Brooker, FL, Adelaide Whitman, Torrington, CT, Adrian Whitman, Colchester, CT,  Evelyn (Mark) Tatham, Milford, NH, and Kitaluna Whitman, Dunedin, FL; and many nieces, nephews, and other family.

In addition to his parents, Phillip and Marion, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Chad.

Friends are invited to gather with family at New Life Church, 6258 Crest Dr., Pulaski, on Tuesday, June 6, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. with Pastor Eric Jensen officiating. Burial will follow in Kunesh Cemetery, Kunesh.

The family would like to thank the staff at Azura Assisted Living and the Aseracare Hospice Team for the outstanding care given to Charles.
