Leland “Lee” White, 65, Sobieski, WI, passed away peacefully, Saturday, April 10, 2021, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born March 28, 1956, to Howard and Vivian (Rogers) White, in Danville, IL.
Lee grew up in the Danville area and graduated from Danville High School with the class of 1974. Following high school he entered the US Navy on February 28, 1974, until his honorable discharge on February 8, 1978. After his time in the service he started working for the VA in Danville and attended Danville Community College, eventually earning a Master’s Degree in Occupational Safety Management from Indiana State University. Lee worked as the Director of Safety at the Danville VA until his retirement in 2011. Lee was an aquarium hobbyist and had great interest in aircraft. He also enjoyed astronomy, music, cooking, baking, traveling, dining and trying new restaurants, and hiking.
Lee is survived by his significant other and loving companion, Barbara Osuchowski, Sobieski, WI; his two children, Amber (Jake) Loewenstein, Williamsport, IN; and Evan White, Terre Haute, IN; four grandchildren, Maximus, Jacob, Abigail and Peyton; two siblings, Thomas (Valerie) White and June Lee, both of Danville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Howard “Skip” White.
Friends are invited to gather with the family from 3-5 p.m. on Tuesday, April 13, 2021, at Marnocha Funeral Home, 186 E. Pulaski St., Pulaski. A Parish Wake Service will take place at 5 p.m. Visitation will continue from 10-11 a.m. on Wednesday, at St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish, 6051 Noble St., Sobieski. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at the church with Fr. Francis Nusi presiding. Interment and military honors provided by the Pulaski Area Veterans will follow in St. John Cantius Cemetery, Sobieski.
