John Adam Gracyalny, 87, Hobart, passed away peacefully January 9, 2022, at his winter residence in Barefoot Bay, Florida. The son of Jacob and Cecilia (Brzeczkowski) Gracyalny was born April 23, 1934, in Elderon, Wisconsin and was a 1952 graduate of Pulaski High School.
John served in the US Navy on the USS Caperton for four years during the Korean War. He met the love of his life, Lois Gull, while drinking “orange soda” and they were married August 31, 1957, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ewen, Michigan.
John founded, owned, and operated Johnny’s Welding (JW Industries) for 41 years, until his retirement in 1999. First and foremost, he was a family man. John loved attending his children’s and grandchildren’s events, which included 54 graduations, countless school and sporting events, birthday parties, weddings, and more. John believed in giving back; he was extensively involved in volunteerism for Assumption B.V.M. Parish, the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion Post, Tri-County Optimist Club, 4-H, PACE, and Pulaski Area Community Schools Board, among others.
John filled his retirement years playing cribbage, volunteering, and making soup. Near and dear to his heart were the people of Haiti. His dear friend, John Malcheski, encouraged him to take the first of 12 trips to Haiti, where he worked on helping the Haitian people with clean water, goat farming, schools, and many other community projects which are still running today. He also enjoyed his roses, and volunteered at the Green Bay Botanical Garden and was involved in the Rose Society. John loved his extended Crystal Coffee family and cribbage buddies, where he was sure to be found when not in Florida.
John is survived by his wife, Lois, of over 64 years; his five children: Jeff (Kathy) Gracyalny, Jerry (Shelly) Gracyalny, LoAnn (Mike) Steward, Lynelle (Kelly) Diestler, and Lori (Bryan) Mann; and his grandchildren and great grandchildren: Alison (Adam) Frazier, Addison and Aiden; Ryan (Nicole) Gracyalny and Weston; Megan (Andrew) Fabry; Sadi, Trey, Anikan, and Raina Gracyalny; Hannah (James) Brown, Jay and Hunter; Shelby and Noah Steward; Zachary, Ethan, Katja Diestler, MacKenzi (Ben) Bowman; Dayne and Samara Mann.
John is further survived by his brothers and sisters: Catherine Skalecki, Bob (Janice) Gracyalny, Leona Benning, Leonard (Christa) Gracyalny, George (Carol) Gracyalny, Richard (Pat) Gracyalny, Nancy Williamson, Judy (Tom) Wagner, and Elsie (Jim) Fournier; countless nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Jacob and Cecilia Gracyalny; his in-laws: Uno and Katherine Gull; a brother, Thomas; brothers-in-law: John Gull, Sy Skalecki, and Vernon Benning; and sisters-in-law: Joyce Gracyalny and Despina Gull.
