Joan Lawniczak, 78, Pulaski, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, October 22, 2019, at Rennes Health and Rehab Center in DePere. She was born December 12, 1940, to the late Martin and Helen (Adams) Vanderloop and was the third of their five children.

Joan attended Pulaski High School, graduating in 1959. It was during this time that she met the man who would become the love of her life, Bob, through one of her brothers. After high school, Joan worked as a secretary at Bronson Electric in Seymour. When Bob returned home after his service in the Army, Joan was still waiting for him.

Joan and Robert were married at St. Stanislaus Church, Hofa Park, on May 7, 1960. From that day to the day of Robert’s death they would not be apart, with the exception of the days that he traveled for work. They spent the next almost 57 years together as man and wife. Today we celebrate their reunion after having been apart for the last two and a half years.

Bob and Joan had four children, 13 grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. Watching her grandchildren grow and start families was one of her greatest joys. It didn’t take long for the great grandchildren to become familiar with great grandma’s cookies; they always looked forward to stopping in to visit her.

Joan was a member of Assumption B.V.M. Parish in Pulaski, where she belonged to the Council of Catholic Women. She also volunteered in the Town of Pittsfield, helping with elections and other events.

In her free time, Joan loved her visits to the casino to have lunch and visit. Joan also had a special passion for keeping her bird feeders full, no matter the weather, and no matter her condition. She enjoyed watching the Packers and Badgers and always had “pointers” for the coaches if you happened to ask her what she thought of the most recent game. Joan especially loved watching her kids and grandkids participate in athletics.

Survivors include four children: Randy (Kimm) Lawniczak, Fond du Lac, Terri (Marty) Thomas, Pulaski, Dan (Denise) Lawniczak, Abrams, and Beth (Chris) James, Pulaski; 13 grandchildren: Ashley (Andy), Jacki (Jamie), and Kyle (fiancée Rebecca) Lawniczak, Sam (Stacy) and Andy (Alyssa) Thomas, and Jayme (Ryan) Kinnard, Tyler, Brandon, and Spencer (Kelli) Lawniczak, Jared (Kelsey) and Janelle Bronkhorst, Carl (Rosemary) and Luke (Ashley) James; 12 great-grandchildren: Isabell, Kellan, Hadley, Laney, Briar, Ella, Brooke, Paisley, Jason, Ase, Dahlia, and a great grandchild arriving in April of 2020; brothers: Ron (Marie) Vanderloop and Chuck (Patti) Vanderloop; one brother-in-law: Ken Lawniczak, Milwaukee; a sister-in-law: Barb Vanderloop; a brother and sister-in-law: Mike and Donna Bertrand, Pulaski; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband; Robert Lawniczak, her parents, two brothers: David and Gerald Vanderloop, and a brother-in-law, Gerald Lawniczak.

The Funeral Mass was celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 26th at Assumption B.V.M. Church in Pulaski, Fr. Patrick Gawrylewski, O.F.M. presiding. Entombment took place in Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum, Green Bay.
