Edwin “Ed” Banaszynski, 94, Pulaski, died peacefully Monday, June 27, 2022, at Emerald Bay Retirement Community. The son of John and Sophie (Bluma) Banaszynski was born November 1, 1927, in the town of Angelica.

Ed was a 1946 graduate of Pulaski High School. Following graduation, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War, where he worked as a pole lineman. He was later promoted to Corporal, and worked as a telephone and teletype operator, leading a squad of six. He received his honorable discharge in July of 1954. In May of 1955, he married Beatrice Kaczmarek. Ed worked in construction for 44 years, first with Lloyd Kispert, and later with DeCoster.

An avid fisherman, Ed enjoyed spending time with his children and teaching them the skills of fishing. He also enjoyed hunting, for many years with his brothers in Navarino and, later, at the various north properties of his children.

Survivors include his eight children: Karen Ellison, Gary Banaszynski, Marie (Mike) Kuzicki, Larry Banaszynski (fiancée Rose Hill), Alan (Subie) Banaszynski, Michelle (Mark) Powers, Carol (Mark) Bopray, and Brenda (George) Hubbard; his grandchildren: Matt (Danielle) Kuzicki, Kyle (Rachel) Kuzicki, Brenn (Stephanie) Banaszynski, Bryce (Korey) Banaszynski, Britt Banaszynski (special friend Jesse Grider), Bree (David) Wied, Miranda (Tyler) Hampton, Nick (Amanda) Bopray, Nathan Bopray (fiancée Morgan Westerfeld), Hannah Bopray, and Elizabeth Paag (fiancé Isiah Konopacki; great-grandchildren: Jace, Beau, Cooper, Kacy, and Carter Banaszynski, Theodore Kuzicki and Scarlett Hamption; two sisters: Barb Blaser and Audrey Delwiche; a sister-in-law: Barb Banaszynski; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by two brothers: Alvin and Jim Banaszynski; one sister and brother-in-law: Phyllis (Richard) Przybylski; two brothers-in-law: Robert Blaser and Fred Delwiche; one son-in-law: Walter Ellison; and two grandsons: Justin and Jason Banaszynski.

Friends are invited to gather with the family from 9-11 a.m. Tuesday, July 5th at Ss. Edward & Isidore Church, 3667 Flintville Rd., Suamico. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at the church, Fr. David Hoffman presiding. Burial with military honors provided by the Pulaski Area Veterans will take place in the parish cemetery.
