Richard L. Smith, 76, Pulaski, died suddenly Saturday morning, December 23, 2017, at his home. Dick had struggled with lung problems for the past several years. The son of the late Lyle and Muzette (Ehlers) Smith was born June 23, 1941, in Milwaukee. The family moved to Oshkosh when Dick was a young boy. He enjoyed spending time on his grandparent’s farm in Neenah. That time gave him his passion for farming. He earned his Bachelor of Dairy Science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1964, and then worked for six years as a Federal Inspector for the USDA. On June 6, 1964, he married Noreen Whitman at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Appleton. The couple had a small hobby farm in Sparta until they moved to Angelica where they purchased a dairy farm on June 1, 1970.

Dick was a seed salesman for Mycogen for 36 years. He also worked for the Town of Angelica for 20 years, the first six on the zoning/planning committee and the past 14 years as Town Chairman. Dick enjoyed showing cattle at county and state fairs, and especially loved passing on the tradition to his grandson, Brandon.

Survivors include his wife, Noreen; two sons: Tim (Barb) Smith, Pulaski and Tom Smith(Henry), San Diego, CA; one grandson, Brandon Smith, Pulaski; one brother, Robert (Judy) Smith, Menasha; his next door cousins: Janet, Donna, Mary, and Jim; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Ronald Smith and Noreen’s parents.

The Funeral Mass was celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 28th at Assumption B.V.M. Church in Pulaski, Fr. Patrick Gawrylewski, O.F.M. presiding. Entombment followed in Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum, Green Bay.
