Mary Stark, 92, longtime Pulaski area resident, died peacefully Wednesday morning, December 20, 2017, at Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Seymour. The former Mary Polczinski was born September 19, 1925, in Angelica. After her mother’s death in 1926, Mary was raised by her paternal grandparents, Antone and Julia Polczinski. In 1953, she married Arnold Stark at Assumption B.V.M. Church in Pulaski. The couple farmed their century farm and raised their family in the Town of Angelica.

She had been a dedicated member of Assumption B.V.M. Parish, where she had belonged to the Rosary Society, volunteered to clean the church, and helped at funeral lunches. She had a special devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. She was an excellent baker; her pies were legendary. She worked hard all of her life and would pray for everyone. A compassionate woman, Mary would go hungry before she would let anyone else go without.

Survivors include four daughters: Carol (Ralph) Kraynik, Kewaunee, Cathy (Mike) Prokash, Wausaukee, Rosie Rahn, Pacific Palisades, CA, and Cindy (Pat) Hughes, Pulaski; twelve grandchildren: Mike (Amy) Pawlitzky, Bill (Tina) Pawlitzky, Joe (Mandy) Kraynik, and Missy Kraynik (special friend, Butch), Kim (Randy) McArdle, Sheri (Mark) Riha, and Debbie (Paul) Dahlke, Scott Rahn and Jodi Rahn (special friend, James) and Stacy (Steve) Burdeau, Julie (Dan) Mears, and Jackie Hughes (fiancée, Courtney); 22 great grandchildren; two great-great granddaughters; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold, on January 2, 2002; two sons-in-law: Ed Rahn and Merlin Pawlitzky; an infant granddaughter, Lori; and one brother, Adolph Polczinski.

The Funeral Mass was celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 27th at Assumption B.V.M. Church in Pulaski, Fr. Patrick Gawrylewski, O.F.M., presiding. Burial took place in the parish cemetery.
