Edwin Hilbert, 97, former Town of Chase resident, died Wednesday morning, March 21, 2018. The son of William and Stella (Bucholtz) Hilbert was born September 16, 1920, in the Town of Chase where he lived all of his life. On October 6, 1945, he married the love of his life, Florence Holewinski, at St. Joseph Church in Chase. The couple operated a dairy farm in South Chase for over 40 years.

He had been a member of St. Joseph Parish in Chase and, later, St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish in Sobieski. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Bishop Bona Council #4439, Pulaski.   He was also a member of the Resurrection Choir. Edwin served as Treasurer for the Town of Chase and had been a member of the Oconto County Board of Supervisors. He enjoyed his farm, garden, and flowers. He also enjoyed dancing and playing cards. Edwin prayed his daily rosary all of his life.

Survivors include two daughters: Barb (Jim) Van Lannen, Pulaski, and Darlene (Carl) Drevs, Green Bay; four grandchildren: Brian (Jen) Drevs, Carmen Drevs, Laura (Mike) Plummer, and Jeff (Jessie) Van Lannen; 12 great grandchildren; one brother, Kenneth Hilbert, Menominee, MI; two sisters-in-law: Marge Hilbert, Chase, and Lucille Holewinski, Green Bay; nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Edwin was preceded in death by his wife, Florence, on September 5, 2012; three brothers: Clarence (LaValice), Norbert (Pat), and Larry Hilbert; one sister, Betty (Felix) Maciejewski; and Florence’s brothers and sisters: Ed (Edna) Holewinski, Casey Holewinski, Verna (Tony) Ostrenga, and Violet (Dick) Klopotic.

The Funeral Mass was celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 7th at St. Maximillian Kolbe Church in Sobieski, Fr. Antonio de los Santos presiding. Burial will take place in spring in St. Joseph Cemetery, Chase.
